About Cape Nerd Collective

The history of Cape Nerd Collective

We started in 2019 with a small group of gamers trying to find their place in this wild world (and even wilder economy).

Our busy schedules eventually caught up with us in 2021 and the site lay dormant as we focused on careers and studies. We booted it back up in 2025 with a smaller team to write and create when we can. While our posting schedule is not as consistent as we’d like, we create content based on our passions.

Our content

We try to vary our content across all facets of nerd culture. We like having a team of contributors so that we can all write about different genres, platforms, and media.

We post news, reviews, and opinion pieces on our site and reshare memes and news stories on our socials. We stream on Twitch when we have some time to play the next game in our library or whichever game is currently being covered for site content.

Bumquack

Bumquack (left) is a local streamer and cosplayer. She started gaming with her sister at a very young age and has over 2000 hours in Destiny 2. Bumquack is a social media manager by day and you can find her streaming on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings on her Twitch channel and you can follow her on her socials.

Bianca Mercedes Lee

Writer. Poet. Graphite Artist. Bianca is somewhat of patchwork human – nothing cohesive about her. It’s all tattoos, country music, car culture, and dorky energy. She just completed a Master’s in English Literary Studies from UCT, specifically in the field of disability, neurodiversity, and mental health life-writing and non-fiction. Her writing, poetry, and art specifically looks at the way nerd culture texts are linked to political and social dynamics in the world. She is dedicated to anime, RPGs, and science fiction.
